  • In 1950, a movie version of Alabama author Joe David Brown's book Stars in My Crown is released.
  • In 1956, a movie version of Alabama author William Bradford Huie's book The Revolt of Mamie Stover is released.
  • In 1980, Alabama author John Beecher dies in San Francisco, Calif.
